Meet Gardner Goodall
Native Plants Program Coordinator
“Everyone has a role in the environmental movement. It doesn’t matter what your background or education level is. Everyone can contribute their own unique skills, no matter what they may be.”
Why did you decide to go into this field?
I was lucky to grow up with parents that forced me out the door from a very young age. Spending many hours outdoors playing with my friends instilled a deep connection to the natural world. When I later learned about all of the damage being inflicted on to the environment, it only made sense for me to put energy into healing it.
Why did you start working for CRCL?
I started working at CRCL to gain experience in restoration ecology. With all the layers of alteration we’ve put on our natural systems and now with the accelerating effects of climate change, it is more important than ever to understand how we can best restore the habitats we depend on.
What is your favorite part of the job?
I love going on site visits to meet with landowners or managers to talk about potential projects. They always have such interesting stories and lessons they’ve learned from the land. I always learn something new.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like biking, gardening, fishing and cooking with my friends.
What is your favorite seafood to eat?
Shrimp!
