LCA: Louisiana Coastal Area Study
|
The Louisiana Coastal Area Study is a comprehensive restoration program that would enable Louisiana to design and build the large restoration projects critical to saving the state's coastal resources.
The LCA Comprehensive Coastwide Study is aimed at securing approval for a comprehensive program to address wetland loss in coastal Louisiana and is based on the restoration "blueprint" presented in the report Coast 2050: Toward a Sustainable Coastal Louisiana.
The Coast 2050 plan evolved into the reconnaissance study for the LCA. The LCA is a more “nuts and bolts” document that details specific engineering, implementation and cost proposals. Originally created as a $14 billion comprehensive plan for coastal restoration, the LCA has been scaled back to several near term priority projects.
The Near Term LCA Priority Projects have been Congressionally authorized as part of the 2007 Water Resources Development Act.
