Beach Restoration on Cameron Shoreline
|
On September 19th, the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana in partnership with Cheniere Energy and Restore America’s Estuaries planted approximately 5,000 pots of seashore paspalum and bitter panicum along the Cameron Parish shoreline.
Fifty-four volunteers worked to help rebuild this shoreline which provides essential protection for our inland communities and wetlands and has been severely impacted by recent hurricanes. The new vegetation will assist in stabilizing and capturing sand in the hopes of building dunes. In addition, the project will also create wildlife habitat, increase species diversity and provide a seed source for natural regeneration.
This project was made possible through a partnership with Cheniere Energy, the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana and Restore America’s Estuaries. In addition to our partners, we received very generous in-kind donations provided by Young’s RV, Mr. and Mrs. Herdis Neil, and Stream Properties.
